Following the assassination of Benazir Bhutto all eyes are on increasing militancy in Pakistan. Waziristan, South Pakistan. Shouting “Death to Musharraf”, villagers proudly display the scalps and fingers of their defeated enemies. The Taliban have established a parallel administration here with their own laws. “The general has no control. The militias perform virtually all the state functions”, states journalist Ismael Khan. When Musharraf sent in the army, the Taliban declared war. Suicide bombing rocked the capital. Under attack from all sides, Musharraf is facing the biggest challenge of his career.
